WEBSITE AND LOGO CASE STUDY

Waterfront Graphic Design Brings Efficient Process, a Partnership Mentality, and Networking Connections to Web and Logo Design Work
Laura Paisley Beck is head creative writer and owner of Wa’am Writes. Laura writes educational content and sales copy for small businesses and solopreneurs.
When she began her business earlier in 2021, she knew she would need a website. She turned to her friend Amy Pierquet, web designer and owner of Waterfront Graphic Design, for help.
“I knew that I wasn’t going to be able to take the time or put the energy into creating a website,” Laura said. “It’s not my expertise. Amy builds very successful websites. She was one of the people who wanted to talk to me about my writing, so it made a very simple, beautiful fit that we could work together. She could create my website and my logo, and I could worry about doing what I needed to do to launch my business.”
Laura said that having a web designer was always part of her plan, and having Amy build her site was a huge stress reliever for her.
“I’ve been watching so many other writers worry about doing everything,” Laura said. “They’re creating their own website, designing their logo, writing copy, trying to land clients, and doing the work when they land it. I learned very quickly that I didn’t want to do that to myself.”
Waterfront Graphic Design: A Partner Who Takes Your Business as Seriously as You Do
Located in Lodi, Wisconsin, Waterfront Graphic Design is a one-stop shop for web and graphic design, SEO services, and online reputation management. Amy Pierquet, owner and designer, brings more than 20 years of knowledge and experience to her clients’ marketing. Amy has won awards for her SEO, and Laura said this gave her confidence that Amy could create a successful website for her.
“I knew that I could have a very simple website,” Laura said. “I didn’t need a shopping cart or a lot of moving parts. The fact that Amy was already so good at making sure that the website was going to be found easily in a Google search was really important to me. In looking at what she had done for other websites, I knew the design part wasn’t going to be an issue either. I’m a very visual person, and it was easy to explain what I needed and how I wanted it to look.”
“Amy is a really powerful networking connection for me. When you work with Amy, she’s not only going to create your website and your logo she’s going to think of you and connect you with other people who she thinks are going to be a meaningful connection whether on a friendship level or a professional basis. You get a lot more than a website and a logo when you work with Amy; you get a really powerful networking connection.”

Getting It Right Quickly and Providing a Great First Impression to Networking Connections
Amy and Laura began working together in the spring of 2021. For both Laura’s logo and her website, Amy provided a few options based on their initial conversation. Laura said the adjustments to make the designs how she wanted them were very minor.
“Amy’s communication was so on top of it,” Laura said. “Amy does a great job working on the right things. She’s had a lot of success using a virtual assistant to take care of the things that are administrative only, and I knew that she was not going to be bogged down unnecessarily. I knew she would take the time to get the project done efficiently and productively. I knew the website was going to do what it needed to do right away.”
Amy continues to support Laura in her business by going above and beyond the SEO services she provides. Laura said working with Amy is like having a business partner who truly cares about her business as much as she does.
“Amy is a really powerful networking connection for me,” Laura said. “When you work with Amy, she’s not only going to create your website and your logo she’s going to think of you and connect you with other people who she thinks are going to be a meaningful connection whether on a friendship level or a professional basis. You get a lot more than a website and a logo when you work with Amy; you get a really powerful networking connection.”
Laura said that people who visit her site love it, and they go out of their way to let her know.
“I’m getting positive responses when somebody visits the website after having met me,” Laura said. “The website definitely has given me legitimacy as a business owner and writer. It displays the perfect balance of my fun personality with how professional I am, which is exactly what I needed it to do. Everyone loves my logo, too.”
Laura recommends Amy and said she would definitely work with her again in other capacities.
“I know that once I get her the information Amy’s going to make it happen, and I don’t have to think about it again,” Laura said. “It’s worth so much. She just seems to magically make everybody happy, and she’s very productive. She’s growing, and there’s a reason why. But somehow you don’t get lost as one of her clients; she’s really good at taking care of you. You get the personal attention, and she truly cares about your success. She can guide you into what is the best practice and what needs to happen to make sure your website is successful. She is both an expert and a caring friend at the same time.”
